How to Disable Outlook's Auto Preview Option

Outlook 2000
To close the preview pane in Outlook 2000, go to the View menu and select Preview Pane.  The preview pane should disappear.

Outlook Express
To close the preview pane in Outlook Express, go the View menu and select Layout.  In the Windows Layout Properties window, uncheck the Show preview pane box and then click OK.

Outlook 2002

From the View menu, select Current View, select Customize Current View, then click on Other Settings, then select No Auto Preview under the Auto Preview section to permanently turn off this feature.

Outlook 2003

From the view menu, select the auto preview option to turn off this service.

Also, from the view menu click reading pane, and select off.
